The Two Senior Officers Moments Before the Assailant Received Electric Shock

One police sergeant that leaped to the assistance of a fellow officer who was ambushed by a knifeman was granted the Royal Recognition for Valor.

Sergeant Tim Ansell struggled against twenty-seven-year-old Jacob Brown following he held a weapon to the throat of his fellow officer Sergeant Marc Foster.

He struck the officer who stumbled and fell to the ground, after which Sgt Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the ground although being continually attacked with the knife.

Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Please provide something on my throat now, I got knifed in the throat."

Sergeant Ansell suffered two open wounds to his throat and further wounds to his arms and torso, whereas Sergeant Foster experienced slash wounds.

Brown received a sentence to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, according to the department.
