Iranian forces say they have struck a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their territorial skies.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had intercepted several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That US-Israeli operation - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.

Officials reported missile fragments landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
