Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched strikes across the region in response for a "massive" and continuing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the main base of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - said they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - launched at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.
The statement noted debris fell on a populated district in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
