Campbell Hatton Pays Emotional Ode to His Late Parent
The former champion’s son Campbell delivered an emotional tribute in his first public comments following his father’s passing.
Messages of condolence have poured in from across the global athletic scene and wider society following the death of the ex- world welterweight titleholder, who was discovered at his property recently at the age of mid-forties.
“Heartbroken isn’t how I feel,” shared his son alongside a collection of cherished photos.
“Everyone always noted I looked like your double – never a more accurate word uttered. I idolized you in all aspect of life.”
He went on: “It’s impossible to describe how much I’m going to long for the jokes we shared and every one of the wonderful times, that I will remember eternally. Just can’t fathom we will never have another. Forever loved, Dad.”
Area police confirmed that the sports icon had been discovered on his property based in Hyde. The department emphasized that there were zero concerning factors surrounding the incident.
In a path similar to his dad, Campbell also embarked on a profession in boxing, having his paid introductory fight in the past few years. He eventually withdrew from the industry earlier this year.
On Monday, the family of Hatton released a message conveying that they were “deeply moved” by the immense display of affection and sympathy directed their way.
“Our loved one was so much more than a titleholder. To us, he was simply ‘Richard,’ our son. A loving father, grandad, and brother, and a true companion to numerous people,” the message stated.
“He carried a spirit as large as his expression, and his generosity, humour, and loyalty touched everyone lucky enough to know him.
“To the wider world, he will always be remembered as one of the sport’s greatest champions – a individual who dedicated everything within the ring and showed his feelings on his sleeve.”
